Sweet and Creamy Matcha Coconut Creme Brulee! (Dairy & Gluten Free!)


For the past week, I have been craving creme brulee - a treat that I haven't had in the longest time. The creamy and rich taste brings me back to enjoying the treat for dessert in restaurants in France. 

Being the Matcha-addict I am, however, I knew that I need to combine a childhood favorite dish with #1 favorite ingredient in the world: Matcha! So, for the first time ever, I attempted to make a Matcha creme brulee. 

For this recipe, I decided to add some heart-healthy coconut cream in lieu of regular cream for an added boost of nutrients!

Prep time:  10 Minutes

Cook time: 40 minutes

Yields: 2 Ramekins


  1. Coconut cream... 1/2 a can
  2. Egg Yolks... 4
  3. White Sugar... 1/2 cup
  4. MariMatcha matcha green tea powder... 1/2 tbsp

For topping:

  1. Powdered sugar... 1 tbsp
  2. Marimatcha powder... 1 tbsp


  1. Preheat the oven to 325 Fahrenheit 
  2. In a bowl combine the egg yolks with the sugar and whisk until combined. 
  3. Add in the coconut cream and sift in the Matcha green tea powder until no lumps remain. 
  4. Pour the mixture into two ramekins and place them into a pan. Fill the pan with hot water up until half of the ramekin. 
  5. Cook at 325 for about 40 minutes. Once they are done, let it cool for 2-3 hours in the fridge. 
  6. When completely cooled, cover the top of the creme brulee with sugar. Melt the sugar with a kitchen torch until golden brown. 
  7. If you do not have a kitchen torch, you can broil the sugar aswell! 
  8. Sift on the sweetened Matcha (matcha + powdered sugar), for an added boost of antioxidants and savory Matcha flavor!
