Crazy Green Matcha Waffles You Need To Try! (Low Carb & Gluten-Free!)

I am always craving something sweet the moment I get up - and the thought of sugary and crunchy waffles drizzled with loads of syrup fills my mind with glee. But, at the same time, I am well aware of the sugar-crash that will follow not long after.
Which is why I absolutely love these low carb, protein rich, and antioxidant-powerhouse Matcha waffles. If its vibrant green color isn't enough to wake me up, its creamy and umami taste on my palate surely does!
There are so many great ways to enjoy these waffles - whether by topping them with flax seeds, walnuts, or hemp-seeds for an extra protein boost, or powdered sugar and Matcha to satisfy my sweet tooth, while filling my body with loads of antioxidants and nutrients!
Without delay, let's check out this recipe!

Crazy Green Matcha Waffles You Need To Try! (Low Carb & Gluten-Free!)

Prep time: 5 Minutes

Cooking Time: 5 Minutes

Yields: 1 Large Waffle

Ingredients:

For The Matcha Waffles

  • MariMatcha Matcha Green Tea... 1 tsp
  • Almond Flour... 1/3 cup
  • Baking Powder... 1 tsp
  • Almond Milk... 2 tbsp
  • Medium Sized Eggs... 2
  • Vanilla... a dash
  • Coconut Sugar (optional)... 2 tbsp
  • Coconut flakes (optional)... 1 tbsp

Toppings:

  • Hemp-seeds... for added protein!
  • Pumpkin Seeds... for extra healthy fats & protein
  • Coconut Cream... for a sweet, creamy, twist!
  • Matcha + Confectioner’s sugar... for an added Antioxidant boost and bright green color!

Directions:

    1. In a bowl, mix together the Matcha, Almond flour, and baking powder until all lumps are gone. Meanwhile, heat up the waffle iron.
    2. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, almond milk, and vanilla. Add a sweetener, such as sugar, if you desire, or coconut flakes for a nice crunch.
    3. Oil the waffle iron to make sure the batter does not stick. I used unrefined coconut oil to complement the flavor of the Matcha!
    4. Cook the batter in the waffle iron, as per the directions, until it is slightly crunchy.
    5. Top with your favorite toppings, such as powdered sugar Matcha (Matcha mixed with powdered sugar), hemp-seeds, almonds and walnuts, or brown rice syrup!
    6. Enjoy with a cup of MariMatcha Ceremonial Grade Matcha!
