Almond Matcha Green Tea Iced-Latte (Two Amazing Ways!)

Ah, the Matcha latte. A sweet and creamy yet floral treat loaded with antioxidants and polyphenols. It can be made in so many different ways, with thick creamy milk, or nutty almond or cashew milk, all giving a different experience for the senses.


For this Matcha latte recipe, I wanted to honor the two traditional ways Matcha is prepared in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies. With a slight modern twist, I have made the Usu and Koi of a Matcha latte.


The Usu is perfect for those who savor a sweet and light drink, while the koi is for the distinguished Matcha drinker who can’t get their hands off of the delicious Matcha bitterness, creaminess, and nuttiness!

Prep time: 10 Minutes

Yields: 2 Delicious Matcha Lattes

Ingredients:


For the Layered Usu:

  • 1 tsp of MariMatcha mixed with 1/4 cup of Milk of your choice
  • 1 tsp of MariMatcha mixed with room temperature Water (about 1 tbsp)

For Koi:

  • 1/3 cup of Milk of your choice
  • 1 Tbsp of Matcha blended with slightly chilled temperature water

Toppings:

  • Honey... for added floral sweetness
  • More Matcha!... for an antioxidant boost!

 

Directions:


For Usu:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the milk and Matcha until frothy.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the Matcha and water until it is smooth and silky.
  3. In the following order, pour milk 1/3 of  the way into a cup with ice. Follow with the Matcha milk mixture and then the thick Matcha paste on top.


 

For Koi:

  1. Using a blender, blend the MariMatcha powder with water until very frothy and bubbly.
  2. Pour it into a cup with ice that has been filled 1/3 of the way with milk.
  3. Sift on top more Matcha powder, drizzle with honey, and enjoy!
